ALGARVE

With more than six hours of sunshine a day during the winter months, Algarve is at the top of the list of winter sun spots. Daily temperatures are between 15-19°C on average, however, as it is facing Atlantic the sea can be much colder. There is a multitude of resorts to choose from, ranging from peaceful fishing villages with narrow streets lined with whitewashed houses to lively resorts with buzzing nightlife scenes.

CANARY ISLANDS

The Canaries offer guaranteed heat during the winter months with temperatures reaching mid-20s°C. This stunning archipelago of seven volcanic islands caters for every taste. Those wishing to escape mass tourism should head to peaceful El Hierro, La Gomera or La Palma with lush green forests and picturesque villages. Gran Caneria and Fuerteventura offer the most beautiful white sandy beaches, whereas the mega-resorts of Tenerife and Lanzarote have the most facilities and the most sizzling nightlife. 

MALTA

The tiny Maltese islands of Malta, Gozo and Comino boast beautiful golden beaches and remarkable cultural heritage. The islands are perfect for family holidays, romantic retreats and those seeking a bit of peace and quiet. Although popular with the rich and famous, Malta offers fantastic value for money with great discounts in the winter. Temperatures are on average between 12-16°C in winter with five hours of sunshine a day.

CYPRUS

Cyprus attracts thousands of winter sun seekers every year. You can expect winter temperatures of 16-23°C and five hours of sunshine a day. However, the sea around Cyprus can be rather chilly from December until May. The island offers extraordinary diversity with something to amuse everyone. Pafos, Limassol and Fig Tree Bay are popular with families, Ayia Napa offers round-the-clock partying, the capital Nicosia is perfect for exploring the island's magnificent history whereas the Akamas Peninsula and the Troödos mountains are ideal for nature enthusiasts.
